PRIVATE RESIDENCE IN MAKRIA MITI, PAROS

The serenity of the location was the key element that influenced the design of this residence. Simple lines and the use of local materials creates a garden that comes in perfect harmony with the building but also with the wider landscape.

The main entrance with large olive trees and low grasses leads to the interior of the house while allowing immediate access to the garden.

A swimming pool is located near the main sitting area of the residence but at the same time forms an integral part of the garden. Near the pool, a small sitting area is created where a wooden pergola and a BBQ bench of concrete are made.

Materials such as concrete and wood are used to create paths and rest areas. The concrete floor is “degraded” as it is followed by paths made of pressed soil. These paths are placed between varied plantations of Mediterranean species allowing free walking in the garden.

The existing olive grove is preserved and integrated into the garden while some olive trees are selected for transplanting into new locations.
